The training needs of all technical and support staff are regularly assessed and the appropriate training is implemented which may include the following:-

  • Research carried out by the individual.  At RPA the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to new problems supported by appropriate research is considered an essential training technique.
  • External courses
  • In house training by RPA engineers or specialists
  • Technical courses by equipment or system suppliers
  • All personnel are encouraged to keep abreast of current technology development by reference to professional publications, principally the CIBSE Journal.

RPA are members of the Building Services  Research and Information Association (BSRIA) which provides library facilities and regular technical reports from research programmes, etc.  We are also members of the British Standards Institute (BSI).

RPA has supported a number of it’s personnel in further education courses including: a Masters Degree in Engineering Services, an HND in Business Management and a National Certificate in Building Studies. Currently, two engineers are being supported through Masers Degrees in Building Services Engineering.

Quality in design is primarily a function of the talent, experience and professionalism of the engineering team within the practice.
The practice however, recognises the importance of quality control in design. It further recognises that this must be a practical and workable system which will not encumber the design process. Its first priority has been recruiting personnel of the appropriate calibre to meet the quality aims.
A formal QA system has been developed for the practice with the assistance of a specialist consultant. This system is in operation on all projects and has BS EN ISO 9001 2000 approval and registration.

QA procedures include engineering design reviews at key stages of each project.

RPA has achieved the prestigious Investors in People standard.

The Standard provides a national framework for improving business performance and competitiveness, through a planned approach to setting and communicating business objectives. We are committed to a programme of ongoing training and continuous development for all our staff.
